Vaccines are medicines that are used to control many infectious diseases that were common in Spain in the past, but which are much less common nowadays, thanks to vaccination programmes and their wide coverage. They now tend to occur as outbreaks in susceptible populations (unvaccinated).
However, viruses and bacteria that cause disease, even death, still exist (even though prevention is possible with vaccines) and can be transmitted to people who are NOT protected by the vaccine
These diseases have a huge economic impact and, in consequence, lead to medical appointments, hospital admissions and premature deaths. Moreover, children’s illnesses can also be the cause of parents losing days at work.
As parents, the health and safety of our children is the most important thing. The aim of vaccines is to protect your children against infectious diseases that may affect their health and even cause death, as they help to prepare your child’s body to combat immuno preventable diseases.
