Within the framework of the Region of Valencia’s Cancer Programme, the Valencian Health Authority has developed a number of pamphlets for cancer sufferers and their family environment based on scientific evidence. The aim of these pamphlets is to help towards improving the quality of information people with cancer receive about the disease, treatment and side effects, and how to cope with stages of the illness.
The pamphlets are a vehicle for aiding communication between health professionals and patients, as well as helping the patient to understand the disease process.
Cancer associations are an important asset in the fight against cancer. The associations are made up of volunteers who work together with health professionals providing basic communication and liaison tools for families and patients. Their aid and support is a contributing factor towards improving the quality of life and problems arising from cancer.
